When software developers build their applications, they make a number of decisions around delivering a certain amount of functionality and making that functionality available at a certain price point.
Of course, not every business fits in to that developers boundary line of functionality – this is where complementary solutions fit in to the picture.
So I hear you ask, “…what is a complementary solution and why do I need one?”
The answer is additional software and maybe you don’t.
Let me be a bit more specific….oh and note that is complementary (adds value) not complimentary (free) – although sometimes they are free…anyway, you get the picture.
A complementary solution is a module, add-on or plug-in for MYOB Advanced that adds additional functionality, usually for an additional license fee and usually covers functionality that addresses a specific requirement for a specific industry vertical or business process.
Of course, not everyone needs that functionality so that’s why these complementary solutions exist – you can choose (and purchase) the ones you need and not pay for functionality you don’t need.
A great example of this is the Savant Warehouse Management Software for MYOB Advanced offered by Leverage Cloud Technologies to our Cloud ERP customers in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane as an addition to the Supply Chain Management solution we offer based on MYOB Advanced.
In fact there are two versions – an entry level called Savant ADC for MYOB Advanced and the more fully featured Savant WMS for MYOB Advanced.
An important thing to bear in mind when choosing a Cloud ERP Software package or any ERP software for that matter, is that they all will have complementary solutions – maybe they are called Add-Ons or Plug-Ins as I referred to above but the concept is the same.
What differentiates these ERP solutions is how those complementary solutions are integrated to the core application. With MYOB Advanced we use what is known as an API (Application Programming Interface) which is built by the software vendor specifically to streamline the integration process and make sure that the core application integrity does not get violated.
Makes sense right?
So for the more technically minded I have added a video that explains what the MYOB Advanced API is and how it can be used.
